Let’s MUSTER.

MUSTER is the Marion Unified Service Team Emergency Response notification service created by Marion County ARES for participating emergency-management volunteer partners. It provides time-sensitive activation notices, availability polls, exercise notifications, and periodic system tests.

Who can participate

MUSTER is a closed volunteer notification system. Membership is limited to volunteers approved and manually added by an authorized MUSTER administrator. Submitting contact information or consenting to text messages does not automatically create an account or approve membership.

SMS notification program

Approved volunteers may choose to receive emergency activation notices, availability polls, exercise notifications, and system tests by SMS. Message frequency varies, with routine testing expected approximately monthly and additional messages sent when operational needs arise. Message and data rates may apply.

  • For an acknowledgement or availability request, reply 1.
  • When an availability poll permits an unavailable response, reply 2.
  • Reply HELP for help.
  • Reply STOP at any time to stop SMS messages.
  • After opting out, reply START to resubscribe.

Consent

I agree to receive recurring emergency activation notices, availability polls, exercise notifications, and system tests from MUSTER by SMS. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out. Consent is voluntary and is not a condition of receiving any paid product or service.

Each volunteer must provide individual consent using the approved electronic or paper enrollment process. Unit leaders may identify eligible volunteers, but they cannot provide SMS consent on another person’s behalf. MUSTER retains an enrollment record containing the telephone number, consent date, and enrollment source.

Important emergency notice

MUSTER is a volunteer coordination service. It is not a replacement for 911, official public-warning systems, or ALERTMarion. Delivery of any SMS, telephone call, or push notification is not guaranteed. For an emergency requiring immediate assistance, call 911.
