Effective date: August 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Marion County ARES-operated MUSTER volunteer notification service collects, uses, and protects information. MUSTER supports participating emergency-management volunteer partners and is not a Marion County government service.

Information we collect

  • Identity and contact information, including name, email address, mobile telephone number, and optional mailing or location information supplied for volunteer administration.
  • Volunteer affiliations, roles, group memberships, duty status, and administrative permissions.
  • Optional amateur-radio call sign, amateur license class, and GMRS call sign.
  • Notification preferences and consent records, including consent date, time, source, and opt-out status.
  • Notification activity, including delivery events, acknowledgement responses, availability responses, timeouts, and related incident-assignment records.
  • Technical information reasonably necessary to secure and operate the service, such as login, device, browser, and security-event information.

How we use information

We use information to verify and administer volunteer membership; send authorized emergency activations, availability polls, exercises, system tests, and service messages; display and update duty status; document responses; protect the system; troubleshoot delivery; and meet communications-provider or legal requirements.

Public information

The public incident dashboard may display incident information and aggregate responder counts. It is not intended to publicly display volunteer names, telephone numbers, email addresses, radio call signs, individual availability responses, or other private member details.

SMS and telephone communications

SMS and telephone notifications are optional. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to an SMS at any time to opt out, HELP for assistance, or START to resubscribe after opting out. An SMS opt-out does not automatically remove a person’s volunteer account or change separately selected push or voice preferences.

SMS consent and mobile telephone information are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

Service providers and disclosures

We may provide the minimum information necessary to vendors that operate hosting, authentication, push notification, SMS, telephone, security, and support services for MUSTER. These providers process information to deliver the requested service. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect people or systems, or with the affected person’s direction or consent.

Retention and security

Information is retained only as reasonably needed for volunteer administration, operational records, consent verification, security, dispute resolution, and applicable legal obligations. Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used, but no internet, wireless, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices

Approved members may update notification preferences through MUSTER or contact an administrator. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, email admin@aresmcfl.org. Some information may be retained where reasonably necessary for consent, security, incident, or legal records.

Children

MUSTER is intended for approved emergency-management volunteers and is not directed to children under 13.

Policy changes and contact

This policy may be updated as MUSTER’s services or legal requirements change. The effective date will be revised when material changes are published. Questions may be sent to admin@aresmcfl.org.
